May Showers Bring May Goals
While the saying goes, “April showers brings May flowers” … we are looking at two weeks of rain here. (Or so the weather app tells me.) This is not going to help my lack of motivation… or my lack of focus!
So, while a nap seems like the most appealing option right now… I’ve decided that the best idea is to sit and write out my month in the calendar, make a few to-do lists… and write a blog post or two. (I hope.) Maybe, just maybe, I’ll even inspire myself to straighten up a bit.
May is one of my favorite months. I’m sure there are a handful of reasons why… but for some reason, it always feels like a fresh start to me. Embracing that sentiment, I am going to try to make this time my new year. Never mind it’s May and not January… this is when I feel most organized and together and ready to take on new challenges. So why not, right?!
Plus, I never really did get around to setting those 2019 goals…
In the spirit of better late than never… or better yet … in the spirit of May 1st being my personal “new year” … here goes!
I want to be more present in this space. I want to document more. I want to write more. I want to remember more... here’s here it is going to happen.
I want to teach others. I’m not quite sure what I want to teach yet… but I do have a bunch of ideas bouncing in my head… I’m hoping that I can figure out the what pretty quickly!
I want to design and sell t-shirts. There’s a long backstory here… but suffice it to say that this is not a new desire. Maybe just the first time I’ve publicly announced it.
I also want to design fabric.
I want to photograph more. With my “big girl camera” and not just quick snaps on my iPhone.
I want to continue to read as much as I have been.
7. I want to be better about schedules, routines, chores, and deadlines. Mine, not the kids. (I feel like I finally got the kiddos under control... now it’s time to focus on me!)
8. I want to take on more creative challenges. And actually face them.
9. I want to continue the simplification of our lives. Especially at home. (I have no excuse on this one with the upcoming move...)
10. I want to be better about appreciating my friends and family, and scheduling visits with them in to a too busy schedule.
This feels like it’s just the tip of the iceberg—and really focuses on things I want to do—not things I should do. (You’ll notice that there is no mention of drinking more water, working out, or snacking less...) But it is a step in the right direction. Heck, it’s a start and that counts for a lot in my world!
Here goes, my new year... Happy May y’all!
